Recently, public disclosures of the requirements made upon women in Washington reveals the extent some of the public officials have violated their rights. They have come to think of themselves as accountable only to themselves as above criticism. However, when one bold secretary came forward, and let the public in on the private sex lives behind the Washington scene—many people were stunned and disgusted by what was happening. Yet, not so many people that the public official lost his post—for his loyal “following” put him right back in office. Now, secretaries in all walks of life are standing up and letting the public know what has long been expected of them. While it may come as no surprise to many of the men who have hired women for sexual reasons as well as actual duties as a secretary—it does come as a shock to the women who have applied for work and failed. Perhaps we should go to a “sex-clinic” instead of a “business college” quite a few secretaries have complained. But, human nature being as it is— and man being the instinctual animal he is—no doubt things will continue in the future as they have in the past.
