GENRE: Children’s Adventure

(An Unofficial Minecraft Book for Kids Ages 9 - 12 (Preteen)

Book 1: The Adventurer from Bilgewater
Scuttlebutt Brightly has always fancied himself a hero. A dashing, swashbuckling treasure-hunter who spends his time looking danger in the face and laughing. Only problem is, Scuttlebutt is a teensy bit of a coward. So he spends his days using his over-developed story-teller’s tongue to pretend to be an adventurer. Which, frankly, hasn’t work very well so far.

But his fortunes change when he meets Soot, a talking (and surprisingly polite) creeper on a mission to end the bitterness between his explosive kind and humans. Soot wants to find the sorceress who gave him the ability to speak, and needs a guide to take him to her distant island home. Despite the many dangers, Scuttlebutt volunteers…once he learns of the fabulous treasure on the island, of course.

Joined by a tough-as-nails barmaid, an exiled prince, a muddle-mouthed professor and a duck (or is it a chicken), Scuttlebutt and Soot embark on a daring adventure into the perilous wild. They’ll face odd-speaking assassins, cat-wielding pirates, dastardly traitors and pigs that can’t walk straight. All on their journey to Creeper’s Fuse, and the terrible secret that it holds.

Book 2: The Rising of the Redstone Sun
Things aren’t going great for cowardly adventurer Scuttlebutt Brightly. After uncovering (and exploding) a dastardly conspiracy by a pair of mysterious ‘modders’, he’s now stuck in the middle of nowhere at the world’s most remote milkshake bar. And still without a drop of treasure to show for it.

After a chance run-in with a muddle-mouthed old enemy, Scuttlebutt and his companions hear rumours that the frozen kingdom of Wintertide has a new mayor, intent on exterminating creepers and generally being an overbearing rotter. But conveniently, Scuttlebutt’s friend Ernest just happens to be the lost prince of Wintertide. And, with a little bit of persuasion, might just be able to put a stop to this mischief.

Joined by Soot the talking creeper, Florabel the fearless barmaid, and Mildred the duck (or is she a chicken?) the motley band of adventurers travel north to take on this devious new mayor. They’ll face snivelling minions, nefarious inventions, uncooperative pigs, the perilous Walk of Fiery Doom and strange-named teenagers with bad haircuts. All to put a new king on the throne of Wintertide, and put an end to the modders’ despicable plans.

Book 3: The Admin Key
Scuttlebutt Brightly has a lot on his mind. His best friend, Soot the talking creeper, has been kidnapped by a pair of dastardly modders, who intend to exterminate all the creepers in Minecraftia. The modders have a giant power-laser. His only hope of stopping them is to find a wanderer named Jumbleweed, who never stays in one place very long. But worst of all, Scuttlebutt still hasn’t found a single piece of treasure.

In his search for this mysterious Jumbleweed, Scuttlebutt hears rumours that all the creepers in Minecraftia are gathering at the distant Mount Spire, at the call of a legendary lightning creeper. And, naturally, he hears the modders have plans to interfere.

Joined by Florabel the brave barmaid, tongue-twisted Professor Fairweather, and Fairweather’s long-lost sweetheart, the Scottish explosives expert Professor McMackenmack (Or just Mac for short), Scuttlebutt embarks on his most daring adventure yet. In a rather ridiculous disguise, the heroes sneak aboard the modders’ gigantic flying airship, The Millennium Enterprise, and travel over the perilous Sidewinder Rainforest towards Mount Spire.
