Kate was raised in isolation by an aging doctor on a small farm outside of Long Tree, Ontario. When the doctor doesn’t return home from his rounds as expected, Kate is forced to follow the contingency plans that Doc laid out for her. Only, heading out into the world on her own is harder than she expected, and when she stumbles across a dead body, things only get worse.

Johnny Stinson is a man who’s been down on his luck almost his entire life. Since he was released from prison several years earlier, he’s been trying to get his life back on track without much success. Accepting a lucrative job that will take care of his financial woes leads him to that same farm in Long Tree, that same dead body, and a hysterical Kate. Getting away from the mayhem becomes his first priority, and kidnapping Kate somehow seems like his only option.

Mack Delaney is the Vancouver Police Department’s Superintendent of Investigative Services. He’s trying to solve two Vancouver murders when he receives a call from the Ontario Provincial Police, linking his murders to their missing doctor. And the discovery of another dead body.

With a murderer still on the loose, Kate and Johnny and Mack are all caught up in the same nightmare, all racing against time, but none of them seem to be working on the same side.
