Sir Khalifa had just hit a jackpot from the International Lindo Games in South Africa. He was fortunate to be the first black man to have ever won the $200.000. Coming from Tanzania, he thought it wise to use his money and help his nationals to secure jobs and boost the economic and social standards of the country the best way he could.
Within a year, he set up a TV station and built a staff quarters close to it in order to help employers who came from the rural areas or the employees who needed to leave close to the TV station. The apartments in the staff quarters were not too bad although some of the employees had to share balconies or kitchens. Nevertheless, that was not a bad accommodation for a town like Tabora, in which the TV station was established.
It was only a month after the opening of the TV station that Miss Tiffany and Mr. Conrad were employed and had to live in separate apartments, which has a joint balcony.
