This is an account of an amazing expedition carried out by M. Aurel Stein into Central Asia and westernmost China in the early 1900's. During his two and a half year quest, with the amassed marching distance of close on ten thousand miles, Aurel Stein made many amazing discoveries which can still be viewed in museums today.  So important were the results of the expedition, on his return, the Geographical Society awarded Stein their highest distinction, the Founder's Gold Medal.

This is a story of adventure and discovery and the dedication of one man's quest to enter inhospitable terrain to re-discover that which had been lost.
