This book was inspired in the 1990's when it became more and more apparant to me that there was a deeper order to life and that we spend most of our existence oblivious to it. We live out frustrated and constrained lives trying to be free of the bonds that we have created for ourselves. "River of Tenderness" is an invitation to look at your life from a simple perspective of love.

I wrote this in 1995 reflecting on the eighteen month period where we had lost our business during the recession, our house and my brother commited suicide. Our nanny of seven years, the third person in the world to hold our first son, died after we had nursed her for two years through cancer.

With what was left of thirty years of business in boxes in the garage, and the house about to be sold and with no place to go, we were like deer in the headlights. Then one afternoon when both our young sons were at school, with nothing else to do, George and I got some old picture frames and did collages from of our many boxes of photos.

We laughed and we cried and we agreed that all we needed in life we already had and none of it could be taken away. We had love. The irony is that the Higher Self seems to prepare the way, and as I reflect on the truths in this piece I realize I was being given a map to navigate my way through the greatest loss of all just ahead.

In just a few years, my best friend, soulmate and beloved husband George would fall ill and after a lengthy struggle be released in death.

This book shares the philosophy that I learned to apply and have subsequently written about in my book, "Exhilarated Life - Discovering Inner Happiness. It is a collection of stories of my personal development in understanding these principles and applying them in real life challenges.
