It is the 5th October of 1962 - the day the Beatles release 'Love Me Do' and the official start of the Swinging Sixties -but homosexuality in England is still illegal - men are still hunted down by the police, they are beaten and they are murdered. Jonathan Willis-James-James is homosexual and he is murdered, kicked to death in a grimy City street by a gang of thugs. His murder is investigated by Detective Inspector Robert Tennell, whose 39th Birthday the 5th October 1962 is - he is also the secret lover of Johnathan.
