A Rising Knight: Vol1, Issue 11. There is no power without price and no rebirth without pain. In the aftermath of his battle with the demon Vlad’s body begins to change, transforming into the body of a wizard. This will not be easy.
Vlad was a killer by fifteen, a warrior by sixteen, a revolutionary by seventeen and a legend by eighteen. He won't live to be nineteen. These are first steps Vlad will take to define his destiny. He will be born in darkness and baptized in blood. He will choose a name and standard. He will spit at the feet of god and slay his angels.
A Rising Knight: Vol1, Issue 9 – Declaration is the ninth issue from the first volume of an anthology short story series chronicling the journey of a half wizard living in New York. The first volume covers the start of the three journeys he will take to becoming the most hunted wizard in history.
Excerpt
Acid ran along his veins and his marrow felt like it was on fire. Every muscle in his body felt as if it'd been locked in a vice all night. Sweat soaked his sheets and bed clothes but his mouth was so dry it hurt. Vlad’s entire torso felt like it was filled with molten lead.
When he finally managed to open his eyes they felt like sandpaper. Everything was fuzzy. If he focused on one thing long enough it got clearer, but he really had to focus. He tried to move his body but it wouldn't obey his commands. All it did was tremble. Once it got started he couldn't stop it.
All the fear he should have felt the night before crashed into him. This was some kind of side effect. Maybe a delayed reaction to the strain put on his body during the fight. He should have expected something like this. There was always a catch.
Despite the pain, his mind was clear…too clear. He was in shock. That was probably why he'd been so calm the night before. His body was buffering him from the pain. That could be dangerous. People in shock could make things worse because they weren't fully aware. Maybe as long as he knew he was in shock he would be alright.
