“The Land” by Mildred D. Taylor was first published in 2001. The present novel is the last book of the Logan Family story which had begun with “Song of the Trees.”
The story revolves around the life of Paul-Edward Logan. He happens to be the son of a white man and a black woman. At the end of the main story, there are three entries in the book from Paul’s journal.
The author has used the Southern dialect from 1870s and the 1880s. The author has based the story on the experiences of her great-grandfather during Reconstruction in the South.
