Reading To Jane Part I - Widower Winston (Win) Barrett, showing signs of dementia, is being moved across the country at the insistence of his daughter. Grandson Edward plans to put Win on a plane and drive his grandfather's car from NJ to WA. Win Barrett plans, instead, to drive with Edward and the two men embark on a remarkable cross-country camping trip that includes daily readings to an urn of ashes and encounters with an ex-con, an obese couple, and a hobo all shunned by society. Part II - Mary Corrigan is a good Catholic wife and mother until the death of her beloved daughter changes Mary 180 degrees. Deciding, after months of therapy, to come to terms with her loss, anger and disturbing memories, Mary takes off from her CT home and heads to WA to face her most frightening demon. Part III - In the Pacific Northwest Mary accidentally encounters an ailing Win Barrett and recognizes an immediate connection to the old man. The outcasts from Win and Edward's camping trip show up as well, and the odd little group inadvertently takes care of Mary's ugliest demon and adds to grandson Edward's continued unsolicited growth.
