In her early thirties, Mia felt she had finally had all her ducks in a row. A house of her own, a good job and the financial security she needed to get what she had been dreaming to have. Finley, younger and much too attractive for his own good, was out of the left field. She couldn't afford getting involved with the son of her colleagues, not to mention risking the dream of her lifetime.
___
He offered a smile and walked over to the other end of the spacious living room. I realized then it was the nook where his kitchen was as he asked what he could get me.
"Anything cold is fine," I managed. "I... ah, I'm not going to stay long."
He came striding over with two cans of Coke easily cradled in his hand and I had to stop myself from swallowing. That was a big hand...
"You're not?"
He placed the cans on the table and opened one, offering it to me.
"Thanks. I'm not."
Finley sat beside me and made himself comfortable, his arms stretched over the back of the couch. I tried to scoot away subtly, noticing that he didn't open his own can, not to mention drink it.
"I can make you stay."
The switch from polite to that was smooth but still too fast, making me tremble as I tried telling my heartbeat to calm down.
"Don't tease me, Finley." I cringed when what I hoped to be stern came out breathless.
He hadn't moved, still all cozied up against the couch but his green eyes were burning right into mine when he replied. "I'm not teasing you."
"Listen," I dropped my gaze and spoke hurriedly. "We can't do this... I work with your parents and — "
"We can't do what?"
Heat burned my cheeks and I tried breathing, panicking slightly when he took my hand and brought it to his lips.
"Finley..." I closed my eyes when he started nibbling, jumping slightly when he took a knuckle into his mouth. I tried tugging my hand away but he persisted, locking my eyes to his as he started sucking.
