John de Koning, an admirer and collector of Ravelli pottery, is the author of this richly illustrated biography of the Ravelli Pottery firm that was located in Leiden in the Netherlands. The pottery was set up in 1944 by the brothers Dick and Jaap and earned international recognition as a result of its high-quality household earthenware products. As one of the first examples of post-war 'Dutch design', the work produced by Ravelli blended seamlessly with international trends in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Today Ravelli's vases, ashtrays, 'keramobiles', bowls and other pieces are highly appreciated as vintage pottery.
Ravelli is an animated and personal account of the history of the pottery, and includes more than 60 photo's as well as interviews with the key players in the firm and examples of the products and working methods.
