In November of 2003, God moved Cameron, a young man of 26 years old, and his family to Dundalk, Maryland. It is there he has had the joy of being pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church ever since.
Five years later, in September of 2008, something very unexpected happened. After experiencing severe abdominal pain for several months, it was discovered that both of his kidneys contained many tumors. Within just a few months, he underwent two kidney surgeries – removing fourteen tumors from his left kidney and nine from his right. Upon further investigation by his doctors, Cameron was informed that the tumors were, in fact, cancerous. The particular type of cancer was such that the tumors would continue to form for the rest of his life.
Over the last several years since the diagnosis, it has been amazing to watch as God used this illness for His glory. This book is the outpouring of Cameron’s walk with God during the most difficult times of his life.
No doubt, everyone will eventually come to a point in life where they believe they a "good" reason to quit. It is at that point, that quitting place, where Christians debate the pros and cons of quitting or enduring. If we are not careful, we end up making decisions that we regret the rest of our lives.
Quitting Places has been written as a source of encouragement. Too often, when we find ourselves facing illness, tragedy, or disappointment, we feel as if “we are the only ones”…even though we are not. This book shares lessons learned, which will help in taking our eyes off of ourselves and to lift our eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh our help. What a friend we have in Jesus!
