In this near-futuristic tale, the people of Covona have come under the control of dictator and has descended into dystopia. Tyranny reigns in the form of the autocrat, Aura Zarling, who wants to purge the population of those she deems unworthy.
Dr. Piter Dram only wants a better life for his family. What he gets is entirely different when medicine becomes a tool for state-sanctioned murder.
New reporter, Tresha Farwell, unwillingly becomes part of the propaganda machine. She must do what she can to fight the regime when her son, a boy with Down syndrome is labeled a dysfunctional.
This foreshadowing and fast-paced novel raises questions about where we are headed as a society when too much power is placed in the hands of a few corrupt individuals.
Like 1984, The Children of Men and Brave New World, Quietus introduces a world where freedoms have been stripped away. People are no longer able to chose their own paths.
Yet, beneath the chaos and bigotry rife in Covona, individuals arise to point to a better way.
What separates democracy from dictatorship? the insidiousness of evil encroaches all too easily when guards are dropped.
Madelaine Shaw-Wong has written a timely and riveting book.

This book captures the history of human atrocities and boils it down to bite-sized and relatable

bits. - J.J. Reichenbach, author of book series Nix and Notorious Nix
