Brien Southward grew up close to the headquarters of the Pawnee tribe in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He holds a double-BA in Linguistics & German Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and has conducted research in linguistics and literary criticism. His other interests include playing and composing music, computers/programming, and writing fiction.
