Brice Smith loved his job as a Paramedic. Living with the guilt of losing his friend pushes him to reach out or as some would say but in to other people’s lives which finds him in front of the homeless shelter watching the man that helped him with his EMT class tonight.

Julio Marks knows all about hard times. After his parents were deported back to Mexico Julio was left to figure life out in his own. Being born in America was always a gift according to his parents, but somehow he saw it as a curse right about now. After his elderly neighbors passed away Julio was forced to the streets at the age of eighteen. He was lucky in the sense that he wasn’t forced into prostitution or drugs but the curse was all he ever knew was ranch work and being small in stature he was always looked over.

Brice was not only a Paramedic but a firefighter like his dad but he preferred the medical side of things. He teaches all the local EMT courses and finding people willing to play the victim was sometimes difficult especially during the school breaks when the college students would go back home. Working double shifts to pay off his debt that his Ex Dwayne left him with made Brice feel hopeless not wanting to give up and go work on the family ranch he posted signs on ever corner in his town hoping to get some people involved with the class.

The connection between Julio and Brice was instant and deep. He knew he needed to protect Julio but at what cost to his heart. Could Brice take a chance again or would he let someone else down at the cost of their life? He was torn between opening his heart but Julio broke him down like a horse at his Pa’s ranch.

As the search for Julio’s parents reveals things are not as they seem the love they have for one another heals them in ways nothing else could. Revenge tore a family apart and love unites them. Sometimes it is the worst times that bind the happily ever after Julio and Brice know the meaning of love their families are the definition of acceptance.
