We are all born, how we are born, the conditions and length of time taken to arrive will impact upon our psyche in some cases giving deep trauma and even Post Traumatic Stress. Forming dysfunctional brain patterning for living, emotional distress and survival can become a base line of living. Joy has found links to health and psychological disorders from foetal origins and birth processes. Young children are malleable; their future undetermined. Right from the moment of conception their future lives are unknowingly predetermined by their parents and those assigned to look after them. Influences exerted at a young age go on to affect them throughout the whole of their lives. With prudence and understanding, we can improve their lot in life and in society, giving them the confidence to be better people, both physically and psychologically. Alternatively, we can saddle them with untold emotional anxiety, concerns and disadvantage, piling on our own hang-ups in the same way our parents did to us. Which would you rather give your child? Today birth processes are on a timetable and diary entry. Fast turn around in hospitals means that mothers become overwhelmed with the process. Today we continually live abnormal situations that are seen as normal. Many new mothers are in shock and trauma from the birth process, overwhelmed from unexpected intervention and feel out of control in the most natural process throughout time, and wonder why depression, feeling underwhelmed, PND and panic attacks set in. Children also show the abnormalities from long and quick births, with sleep deprivation, this not normal. Infant fractious sleep is not normal; it is due to trauma, mainly through shock from birth. Asthma is also linked to shock, Allergies linked to stress and foetal origins. And yet we accept the condition! Try and live with the outcomes, which morph into other unhealthy conditions! Essentially, we need to change our overall thinking on the process of maternity, as it is responsible for many of our ills today. There are alternative answers which is what the book gives, with a new vision approach. Giving birth is a million dollar business: At the time of writing, forty six per cent of USA births are carried out by Caesarean section and America also has the highest newborn death rate in the developed world. In the UK, on average 40% of hospital births are by C-section and it appears to be very much the norm these days. It is the wealthy countries in the western world, which, seem to have indicators of high intervention during birth, but is this a help or a hindrance to the infant and mother ? In this book we will explore all aspects of birth and pregnancy, providing new ideas and scientific facts to help new and existing mothers. Emotionally however, I believe that health and welfare systems have a lot of learning to take on board. In hospitals today, we are, to a great extent, emotionally ignored. Scientifically, the premise that emotions are often the root of disorders and unhappiness is not fully understood. Having a baby is a very emotional experience. The birth process can sometimes be easy and sometimes difficult, but the more the mother is in control, the easier it is for nature to help. With natural instincts taking over, the body already has the tools for birth in readiness for the event. When the mother becomes stressed, so does the baby. Intervention and stress interferes on many levels, shutting off and overriding natural abilities and making the process more painful and emotionally destructive. It causes babies to be born in shock and to suffer post-traumatic stress (PTS). Just like being in a car crash, both mother and baby are left in shock and with the added burden of PTS. Is this NOT how birth was meant to be. As a result, I felt compelled to write about the many areas of unspoken realities.
