A science fiction novella set in the Planetary Assessment Corporation story universe.

The clock is ticking as the planetary survey team tries to make sense of the first earth-like planet ever discovered by the Planetary Assessment Corporation. The planet teems with life, but the animals make no sense—segmented dinosaurs and carnivorous rats that attack at the slightest hint of blood. The team has to get in, plant a marker and discovery station, and get out or risk being stranded for two hundred years.

Mark Abrion has to fight not only the local fauna, but members of his own team as he tries to understand the reasons behind these obviously engineered creatures, and the exact nature of the message they were designed to deliver. One thing is clear: he is not wanted here—by anyone.
