In ancient China, the place of women in the Chinese society was not commendable, for they were compelled to spend their lives under the dominance of the males. There was no gender equality before the Cultural Revolution in China.
China went through a long civil war on mainland. After the civil war, Mao Zedong with his revolutionary army defeated the Koumintang government under General Chiang Kal Shek.
After the victory of the revolutionary army, a communist government was formed in Beijing on 1st of October, 1949, under the leadership of Chairman Mao Zedong. As a result The People’s Republic of China emerged.
