Perseus is a demi-god, the mortal son of Zeus. Cast into the ocean by his grandfather who feared for his throne, Perseus and his mother are taken in by the fisherman brother of the king of Serifos. As he reaches adulthood, Perseus is goaded into a quest to find and kill the monster, Medusa, by the king.

Guided by Athena, the goddess of wisdom, and Hermes, the messenger god, Perseus sets out to collect the tools he needs to slay the Gorgon.

But that is not the end of his journeys -- whether saving damsels from sea monsters, taking on corrupt kings bent on his death, or meeting his destiny -- to kill and usurp his grandfather, Perseus tries to steer through his trials using his adopted father's advice, "Don't be a great man, be a good man."
