YOU MISSED IT! Any event that is held in Pender Harbour shouldn’t be missed and that is especially true of the wooden boat festival!

Still intimate, but with a broad spectrum of participants that provide incredible variety, this show allows you personal access to most boats and their owners. Translated this means, in the park ,at the marina or any of the social events surrounding the festival, you still remember who’s boat belongs to who and they are eager to discuss any aspect of the boating world. And as age and memory dictate they remember you as well (after 40 we all need name tags).

People in brightly coloured summer clothing line the dock beneath fluttering flags. The mood is festive as they discuss which boat is their favourite and line up to watch the ROV and hard helmet diving demonstrations. We are rafted to the “KINNAIRD” a tug that is captained by Don McKenzie. The crew aboard the KINNAIRD is doing the heavy hard helmet demonstration in the blistering heat of the mid-day sun.
