Aubergine St. Valentine is the Queen of Romance. Everyone agrees on that. What no one realizes is there are monsters lurking just behind her and she is losing her race to outrun them.
First and foremost was the black hearted mortgage banker who didn't understand that a Queen could have empty pockets. And they were empty since her, now ex, husband had packed up a panel truck with everything but the bed she was sleeping in and emptied her bank accounts on his way out of town. She had been living hand to mouth ever since. The source and fountain of her income had seemed to dry up even before her agent decided the flee to a fertility clinic and abandon her clients to the Devil. (Not the red pitchfork one, but the one whose reputation was that making a deal with him was like shaking hands with, etc. etc.) This convention was teeming with new authors who wanted him for an agent and she would gladly have given up her place, but like his namesake he was loathe to let a client go.
Sean, thinks she's hot and beautiful, but most of all he has the key to locking the monsters back in the dank basement they belong in. At least for a while.
