However, it is a worth reading novel which narrates the story of a brilliant career, financial "pillars of society" - Victor Radnor, who started his prosperous marriage. Being a great psychologist Meredith turned to the problem of contradiction between the external well-being of the hero and his consciousness of his moral insignificance.
