The Geraldine Heaney Story, by Tom Bartsiokas, provides an in-depth portrait of the woman who was known as the Bobby Orr of women's hockey. The authorized biography recounts Geraldine's amazing quest for gold and retraces how a little girl with a dream and a stick followed her passion from the driveway of her parents' home to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Geraldine put the women's game on the map when she scored a spectacular game-winning goal at the first Women's World Hockey Championships in 1990. She led Team Canada to seven consecutive world championships and in 2013 became only the third woman to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The biggest loss of her professional career, however, came in 1998 when Team Canada lost the first Olympic gold medal in women's hockey to Team USA at the Nagano Olympics. Devastated-and nearing the end of her career-Geraldine put her life on hold for one more shot at Olympic gold at the 2002 winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
