I couldn’t tell if R.J. was mad at me or just making an effort to distance herself so that it didn’t happen again, but I didn’t particularly like it. I guess that was the point.

After her romantic advances are rebuffed, things are frosty between R.J. and the new ghost hunter. Luckily there are plenty of ways, and women, to keep her mind off of it...
EXCERPT:

R.J. held a hand out to Leah. She didn’t take it. She looked nervously to me instead, her hand clenching my fingers.

“Don’t worry, little lamb,” said R.J., still smiling that predatory grin. “You know why you’re here don’t you?”

Leah blushed even deeper and ducked her head so we couldn’t see her eyes. It’s funny how ghosts can blush even when there’s no real blood running through real veins. Just a memory left over from when one was alive. “Yes,” she said, softly.

“And you know why we’re here?” asked R.J., just as softly.

Leah squirmed a little on the spot and didn’t look up. It took her a long time to answer. “Yes,” she breathed.

“Good,” said R.J. She stared down at Leah, her eyes hungry like a wolf watching its meal. “Don’t worry,” she said. “We’ll go slow.”

Other books in the series:
