I was inspired to write this book because there are too many young women like myself, who were taken advantage of and for me I did not even realize it until years later. Our young ladies need guidance and directions from us who have lived the life that they are currently embarking. It is our responsibility as elders to guide them along a path that leads to success without having extra responsibility. I realize that by no means having a child early in life is a death sentence; it simply delays the success that is waiting some time in the future. Regardless of the circumstances of your birth, you are important and deserve an opportunity to be successful. By the way, none of us said to God, “I want to be born out of wedlock;” “I want to be born to a single teenaged mother;” “I want to be born to a woman who is addicted to substances;” or “I want to be a product of rape or incest.” The point is, we are here now, and we can make the best of what life has to offer.
