The 1930’s were the Golden Age of Radio. Radio was the equivalent of television today with stations the same as today such as ABC, CBS, and NBC and others that had disappeared. Radio shows consisted of comedy, drama, suspense, kids and detective shows as well as afternoon “soap operas” catered to women at home which earned their name by being sponsored mostly by soap companies. The popularity of radio remained into the late 1940’s when television broadcasting became preferred. To know what was going on in the world, you got your news from newspapers but more quickly, from the radio.

While the bombs are dropping over there, Henry Cranston is the Voice of radio over here. His deep tones resonnate the news, the drama and sports over the air waves all day long. His deep tones captivate Gracie Alexander, a succesful fashion designer. After a chance meeting they can heardly get each other out of their minds but will their love stand the tribulations of World War II?
