Believers believe because they are either illiterate or too lazy to read the book they think they believe. The book, all religious books, and especially the unholy top three monotheistic books, are a plethora of crazy rules and countless contradictions. When taken as a hole, the book, any of them, is simply impossible. If the swinging dualistic apologetics were all added up, it would amount to nothing.
This doesn't mean they aren't worth reading. It is worth the reading just to see what it is we are supposed to believe. Reading a holy book will enlighten one to the knowledge that the book is absurd. A crock of shit.
But not to dismiss them. They are brilliant ancient fairytales. They are good for displaying the obvious. They all remind us that we have been ruled by the self chosen elite since before written history. Though it might not have been intentional, the stories reveal the brutality of the crime.
We are not born into sin and we do not need to be saved. We need to wake up, learn as much as we can, save and share that knowledge, gain wisdom and take on the opportunity of being what we already are. The gods.
