Part 1 of the Justified Trilogy

Daemon Justice was preparing for a vacation with his wife Dominique and six-year-old daughter Danielle. While he finishes inside he hears his name yelled; at first it seemed just a simple attempt to get his attention, but when it was screamed again and he could hear desperation with an added child's shriek, he knew there was trouble. Running out of the house, he arrives in time to see his family thrown into a car that then speeds off.

Daemon gets into his own car to pursue the kidnappers. The perimeter of the yard is enclosed with a stone and steel-bar fence. As he prepares to exit where the kidnappers left, a truck enters and blocks his pursuit. When the man who steps out of the truck makes ransom demands, Daemon knows the man is in league with the kidnappers; when the man refuses to say where Daemon's family are being taken, he pounces upon the kidnapper.

Not going to negotiate, Daemon beats the kidnapper into submission and gets the location for where his family is being taken. After restraining the kidnapper, Daemon throws him in the back of his car and resumes driving to where he knows the kidnappers are headed.

At the location where the kidnappers took Dominique and Danielle, Daemon readies his attack. He is ex-military, and still active in such assaults. As he goes to the kidnappers' room, he sees some clues that Dominique provided to help him better understand what he is walking into.

At the door, he listens before he hears his final clue and breaks in to try and save his family.
