I never in a million years imagined that I could be an author. The journey that led to this book began in June 2014 when I started having uncontrollable bouts of sneezing. I would later learn that I was actually having seizures that were caused by a brain tumor.
At first, I didn’t think it was a big deal so I went on with my normal life for about three weeks. During this time, I felt pretty good and even traveled to Niagara Falls without any episodes. Then on July 5th, I was working in the garden and the seizures came back with a vengeance. I finally saw my doctor on July 25th and he sent me to the hospital for a brain scan. This is the day that forever changed my life.
Walking into the hospital, I was terrified. I grabbed my wife’s hand and said, “I can take any news they give me as long as it’s not a mass.” After the scan, the nurse regretfully informed me that a mass had indeed been found. I grabbed my wife’s hand, with her crying as we walked outside. I told her, “I’m a sixty-two year old truck driver. I won’t make it through this brain cancer alone. The only way I’ll make it is with the Lord. I can’t do this in the flesh.” As soon as I said that, a feeling of peace came over me. Every vein, muscle, nerve, and bone in my body was at ease. The Lord had moved within me and I felt his presence. I knew then that I’d be alright.
We drove home that night, with me holding Kathy’s hand air tight, for she’s been my rock in marriage for over forty-one years. The Lord has given me many gifts during my lifetime and she is one of them. That night, I tossed and turned, not able to sleep. The Lord spoke to me, telling me to get up and go write. That night, the Lord turned a truck driver into a writer. He told me to write stories for his glory and healing while on this journey. The words will provide comfort throughout what lies ahead. So this book was written to comfort and give hope to all with cancer. As I walk with the Lord on this amazing journey, I find his promises are kept and my body healed.
Join me on this journey of inspiration, hope, and healing.
