This is a story of a curious boy, Olayinka, who learnt hardwork, discipline and respect for elders from his uncle,Pa Oyekola,and his grandmother in a typical African setting. His love for pet made his uncle to buy a lovely dog for him. However, how his beloved dog disappeared into the forest is a complete mystery and a sad experience.However, the re-appearance of the dog was also a mystery!.
Even though he was not complaining for helping his uncle on the farm, his mother’s dream was for him to go to school. But because there was no money for him to go to school, he had to take the most difficult and painful decision in his life- sell his dog he later found to raise money for his schooling.
The book also dwells richly on moral values that will be of great benefits to the children as they are growing up in life.
