Mother Teresa

Understanding the Life and Lessons of One of the World’s Most Well Known Public Servants

By Dr. Ruth Carr

Why learn about Mother Teresa's life?

What do we really know?

Almost everybody has heard the name Mother Teresa in one circumstance or another – but what do we really know about her? We usually get the idea that she was religious and spent most of her life sacrificing her own comfort to help poor people. But often we do not learn more, unless we are learning more about her in school, or read an article about her because our interest has been kindled. If we do not delve deeper, we will not learn how Mother Teresa came to be Mother Teresa, and we will never find out how we can use her example to become better people ourselves – no matter what our own religion is.
