More Bill Cherry's Galveston Memories

Author Bill Cherry admits to having a unique memory of island stories told him throughout his youth by two generations of Galvestonians. And these are the ones he has written in this some seven hundred weekly columns that were published in the Galveston County Daily News. Many of the Damon Runyon-esque characters he writes about, he actually knew. And because he grew up with the children of the island's famous Maceo, Sealy, Hutchings, Moody families, he has a special insight that he shares about them. But it's the stories about characters like Pee-Wee, Dirty Gurtie, Joe Pajucie, Ducky Wucky and the elegant bawdy house madam, Miss Dorothy, that punctuates this series of tales.
