Robert Rockingham a homicide detective and his girlfriend Holly, a missing person’s detective, spend Christmas skiing as Robert’s estranged family vacate in Phuket.

In Thailand, Marie, Robert’s ex-wife, his brother, his family and Georgina, Robert’s daughter are caught in the mayhem of the 2004 Tsunami.

Towards the end of Christmas Day Robert receives a phone call from the precinct Captain telling him to turn the TV on.

To his terror he watches a news programme covering the Asian Tsunami.

Robert tries to come to terms with his torment and guilt for not being there. He visits Phuket and sees the destruction and other people’s anguish for himself.

Meanwhile Holly returns to work, cooperating with the FBI in a search for a boy kidnapped in New York.

In Phuket, Robert identifies the body of his Brother as other bodies of his family are recovered but not his daughter, Georgina.

Slowly he accepts her death and returns home and then to work. He is drawn into the case Holly is investigating when a body of a member of a paedophile ring is discovered in LA.

Robert’s computer skills are called upon to break the codes on a pedophile’s computer. Where he discovers his daughter’s photograph on a pedophile’s auction site.

He has four days to find her, before she is sold.

With the help of colleagues his race against time takes him to Mexico and a large house used as a holding station for children to be sold.

A merciless guardian for the paedophile ring holds Georgina and three other children in cages like dogs.

One of the paedophile ring members becomes aware of the police net closing in and orders the death of the children and sends a ruthless gang to the house to dispose of the evidence, the children.

Robert and two colleagues arrive at the house just as the gang arrive and a gun battle at the gates of the house warns the guardian, he has to do the killing of the children himself.

With seconds to spare Robert rescues Georgina and the other three children moments before Holly and her FBI contacts arrive.

A few months later Robert, Holly and Georgina move into a new home as the man behind the paedophile ring sits on a bus as it enters the perimeter of a prison. It is clear his inmates are aware of his tenancies and are eager to show their appreciation of child molesters.
