This book is intended to help memorise the equations for GCSE Physics. The best way to memorise them is to use them!
For each page there are three questions, the first is using the equation as it is, the second is a rearrangement, third is another rearrangement with at least one unit conversion.
I deliberately haven’t given the working for each question, just the answer, so that you can think through the problem and then check you’ve done the working correctly. I’ve deliberately left the maths simple enough to do in your head so that you can quickly work through the problems, hopefully that equation will eventually seep into that permanent area of your brain where all your song lyrics and film quotes are kept!
Use this book instead of flash cards! So don’t just go through it once and then leave it! It’s meant to be flipped through time and time again until you know the equations and their units by heart!
One more thing, about algebra. Algebra is a short cut, it saves you time and makes your life easier. As examiners we understand this algebra, if you use the correct terms, we know what you mean. You can use the quantity names if you feel more comfortable, but I suggest you embrace the algebra… there’s less of it to remember.
At the end there are some of the really challenging questions where you will need to use two equations to solve the problem. For this you’ll need to know the equations fluently! Often you’ll be able to start solving these by thinking “what can I calculate from the data I’ve been given.” Usually even if you can only do one step of these two step calculations you’ll pick up half the marks so that’s a great start!
On you go! I really hope this book helps!
