"Maybelle" is a flash fiction story about one woman's afternoon as she, the lone survivor, takes a break from sorting through her family's homestead. Dusty and depressing work, she turns her mind to the news she heard the previous evening at Lazlo's Diner. Is it irony or karma when life begins with odd pairings?
"Mattie" is a short story about a woman who loves nothing better than to hop on a flight to someplace else. Although she is an experienced world traveler, Mattie enjoys the journey as much as the destination. Travel for her is all about learning how other people live. For her, a perfect afternoon would be sitting at a street side café, watching locals stroll by on their way to lunch or back to a job, perhaps.
