As well as gambling and partying, Marie's kind hearted character led to her forgoing many luxuries, and engaging in acts of charity. As she grew in France, Marie was subjected to ridicule over the first sexless seven years of her marriage, and would later watch two of her children die before their time. Her life ended in Paris, and she spent her last weeks without her husband or children, before being executed as a falsely-accused paedophile and national traitor.
