Man on the Move is the story of a man, Larry French, born in Northern Ontario (thus his fondness for winter and its gift of snow), whose career in education took him from Northern Ontario to Kingston, Paris, Copenhagen, Latin America and Queen's Park in Toronto. There a Cabinet Minister called him OSSTF-FEESO's 'one-man swarm.' He now continent hops between Switzerland and Canada. In his memoir you meet the Queen's professor who changed his destiny, the women he loved, several politicians, and the writers, poets, philosophers and scientists who inspire his view of the world. Along the way he gives us an insider's look at teaching, reaching back to Socrates, and teacher federation politics -the separate school funding and pension wars of the 1980s, the historic election of Ontario's first NDP government in 1990. He finds the concept of the memoir fascinating and explores the many models that exist from François Villon to W.B. Yeats to T.S. Eliot to Stefan Zweig to Vladimir Nabokov. A friendly fellow, somewhat of a bon vivant, he would love to have you join his journey.
