In April 2007, at the age of 3 1/2, our son Luka was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. What ensued was a blustery whirlwind of tears, rapid initiation of treatment and much confusion about what lay ahead for all of us. Today, Luka is a vibrant 8 year old who lives for playing sport. He has been Leukaemia free for roughly five years; the risk of relapse has reduced considerably, however he continues to have regular medical checks and will do so for many years to come. I've often felt emotionally alone yet, oddly enough when I look back, I'm grateful for the wonderful way this hardship has taught me to reprioritise everything in my life. This is my story of Luka's illness and of his incredible courage, patience and tenacity through the journey of our lifetimes.
