Sometimes fate needs the hand of fortune…

Lord Jonathan Castleford wasn't looking for romance on the road to Cornwall. He just wanted to get the journey over with and return to London, content with his rakish life as the second son of the Earl of Vellerman. But a chance encounter with a fortune teller by the name of Madame Zeta would change all that. She tells him about The Path of Life, never knowing that his journey would lead him to a certain woman…

And destiny requires a little help.

Miss Fanny Grouseman is content selling vegetables at the local marketplace. She knows that she might never find love in such a small town, but she is happy to remain with her parents and two sisters in their modest cottage. When she meets the infuriating guest of the village squire, everything changes. Not only is she prevailed upon to make sure Lord Castleford doesn't learn of the town's rather secret dealings on the coast, but she has to suffer dance lessons with him as her tutor! It isn't long until Fanny begins to see that Jonathan isn't quite as horrible as he first appeared, but just because she might start growing fond of the handsome man doesn't mean that anything might ever come of it.
