In the Dreaming of Kate trilogy, Danny Dalton pursues a career as an author of fiction and pursues a woman whom he had begun dreaming of before they had even met. Through a series of unexpected events, Leah broke off her engagement with Danny and Andrew broke off his engagement with Kate. When the dust settled, Danny found himself sharing his home with Kate on Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick, Canada.
In this sequel, Living Without Kate, we see these four characters begin to pick up the pieces and try to move forward with their lives, Leah in Burlington, Vermont, Andrew in Brookline, Massachusetts, and Danny and Kate in Canada. Meanwhile, the troubled teen from Dreaming of Kate, Ciara, has pulled herself together and is heading off to Northeastern University School of Nursing, only to find that Andrew has coincidentally taken residence in the same area.
New characters are introduced in this sequel, including a 15-year old, aspiring writer who is a classmate of Liam’s on Grand Manan and who is seeking help from Danny as well as a desperate, Russian immigrant who is seeking legal help from Andrew.
The connections between these characters become more and more complex, in this story of life and illusions, leading them all down a road filled with uncertainty and peril.
