'Living On a Wreck' - The 'Heads Up' On Buying and Living On a Large Wooden Houseboat Project
"There is nothing like living on a Boat, on the water. It is an experience that many crave as a means to escape the Rat Race but one that only those who have been lucky enough to have done it can truly appreciate."
I was privileged to live aboard two large houseboats over the course of seven years in the U.K. and learned much along the way – most of it the hard way it has to be said!
The first boat was an old converted WWII TID Tug called ‘Lady Of Menai’ on which we lived for over a year while making many improvements and the second boat was a much larger project - an old French built Wooden Ex-Fishing boat called ‘Patricia Campbell’ which we later re-named ‘Andromeda’ and who’s story is the subject of a book still in the writing called ‘Andromeda – The Story Of A Houseboat.’
I wrote 'LIVING ON A WRECK' with the aim of offering some insight into buying a large wooden 'Fixer Upper' or 'Project' boat and some of the problems that you may encounter before you buy the boat and during the awesome adventure that unfolds once you finally take the plunge and become Live-aboards!
The book includes information on where to find a Project boat in the UK, what to look for when viewing a Wooden boat, Moorings, boat transportation and delivery and much more.
If you have any questions just get in touch. And if you do buy the book I'd love your feedback on it - good or bad!
Many thanks for dropping by,
Greg :)
