“Before I was made a vampire,” Lilith began. “I was a cambion. Do you know what that is?”
“Not entirely,” Lucien said. “It’s something to do with an incubus, I believe.”
“Yes, that’s just a part of it,” she replied. “It’s rather complicated, but I’ll try to simplify things a bit. An incubus and a succubus cannot procreate between the two of them. It’s usually a very involved process when the two of them decide that they want to reproduce. It means taking the sperm from a human male by the succubus and then passing it on to the incubus. The incubus, in turn, mates with a human female using the borrowed sperm. The human female nearly always becomes pregnant. This is what happened in my case. Normally, the children born of these unions do not breathe or carry a pulse, although they appear to be human in every other way.
“Something happened with me, though. When I was born, I drew breath and I had a pulse...."
