Like Raindrops on Water is a glimpse into the future where the world had seen many changes. Thoughts, ideas, cultures and ways of life have changed for the good of all. A revolution has taken place. But instead of a revolution of shooting and violence, it was a change of heart and a change in thinking.
In many ways, this has been instigated by a few pioneers through their bold and brave words, thoughts and actions which spread far, like the ripples of raindrops falling on water. Linorio was one such pioneer.
But free will ensues and there are signs that destructive human traits are re-emerging.
The story is seen through the friendship of the 23 year old Jonathan and Molly who, at 105, is more than 80 years older than her young friend. When Linorio disappears, Molly and Jonathan go in search of him. Their search takes them to a remote and desolate part of the Peruvian Amazon jungle. Here too they find that dark forces still thrive, and that humans can revert to their old ways.
For us in the early 21st century, it is a story. It is a hope and a wish for the possibility of a better life for all of us, a chance to re-imagine everything. It is also a reminder of what can happen when we stop being vigilant, and when we take things for granted.
