How far will eleven thousand volts throw you?‎

The Mountain is a death trap; the Old Man has been wiring up his new set ‎of lights with little regard to the failing infrastructure already serving the ‎chalets on the Mountain. His installation is quite perfect; but the glaring ‎fault in the old system won’t take that into account. The Old Man has ‎been missing for two days; and I have to go and find him, somewhere on ‎the grim slopes in foul weather; with a damaged high voltage cable ‎somewhere on the peak.‎

Electricity is the one thing we think about least; yet cannot tolerate its ‎absence for any length of time. Power is all around us; the dangers and ‎perils too. This is a grim and frightening picture of the present dangers ‎of our most important utility.‎

Lights on the Mountain follows the investigation by two electricians of ‎two very different places on the same peak. It is suitable for all avid ‎readers.‎
