This is a love story of a miracle filled life.  It was love at first sight when we were 12, but she never saw me.  I lost her in the crowd at Disneyland, California.  I met her during a lightning storm when we were 26 years old. We traveled much of the United States and Europe.  We had so many miracles we quit planning and would just do on the spur of the moment trusting a miracle to happen.

Some were very important, we were told that it would take at least three years and probably longer to adopt a newborn.  It took three months to adopt a three week old perfect boy.

Some miracles were less important but amazing.  On the spur of the moment we decided to drive west on vacation.  In the middle of tourist season you need national park reservations a year in advance.  No problem, we just drive up after dark to the Grand Canyon,  After the ranger quits laughing he says we can go in to turn around.  Some college kids flag us down to say they have spare campground spaces that they already paid for and don't need.  That's nice, reservations are needed for other people, not us.  Three days later we show up at Sequoia National Forest Campground and after the ranger quits laughing, some campers come into the office to say that they are leaving early and we can have their space.  Three days later we are heading east toward home...you get the idea.  Who needs reservations?

Our first Trip to Paris, we got accidently locked into the Tuileries Garden (we climbed the fence getting applause from the French lovers on the steps of the Louvre), the Louvre itself the next evening, the last guard had the key in the door to lock it as we came up after realizing all the other visitors had left and we didn't hear the announcement.  The next evening, we were on the balcony of the Notre Dame Cathedral by the gargoles when they locked the doors.  Just as we were trying to figure out how we were going to spend the night up there in the rain, a janitor came out to empty a trashcan and we escaped.  We had adventures, coincidences, miracles, for our lives.  Some were historically significant.  Due to traffic in Spain we were not going to make it to our hotel reservations in Barcelona so we camed at a town not far from France.  The next morning we decide to drive into the little town and while there we stopped at the town church.  That church had the largest all wood pipe organ in the world, and it is not listed in Wikipedia.  It also had a Bible signed by Christopher Colombus in 1491.  (according to the priest it was a personal Bible he left behind in case he did not make it back from his voyage in 1492).  We saw it in its glass case, got a photo of it, but there is no mention in Wikipedia, in fact that Cathedral is hardly mentioned anywhere.  That same day we were also the only Americans at a real bullfight (not for tourists).  A few days later in Barcelona we saw replicas of Colombus's ships that were being prepared to go the United States twenty years into the future. Twenty years later we accidently were on vacation in Corpus Christy, Texas to see those same ships sail into the harbor there to be put on display.  My family got a private tour of the completed ships we had seen under construction 20 years earlier.  The next day the average wait time for a tour was 4 hours.  Coincidence?

This is a love story filled with miracles.  I could not list them, but they are 100% percent true though unbeliveable.  If you don't believe in lifelong love or if you don't believe in the afterlife, you need to read this book.  I wrote it to honor her and our marriage.

After I retired I got a job offer to move to Tampa, Florida.  A year later Carolyn had a heart attack and Tampa had one of only two heart surgeons in the United States that could have saved her (and did).  Nine years later doctors got her records mixed up and slowly killed her in the hospital.  At the exact moment she finished expelling her last breath she got some revenge on that hospital because a single bolt of lightning knocked out all electrictiy including the emergency generator.  I actually met her during a Lightning storm and she died with an earthquade of Thunder.  The miracles continued after she died.
