Thomas Keightley (1789–1872) was an Irish writer mostly famous for his works on folklore and    mythology. His most notable works are Fairy Mythology (1850), and Mythology of Ancient Greece and Italy, a work on Popular Tales and their transmission from one country to another. Among other works he is also knows for his historical works and studies, like Lardner's Cabinet Cyclopædia (1829).
Legend of Melusina is an analysis of an Albanian folk tale, collected by Thomas Keinghtley.  This work gives a short summary of the storyline and compares it with similar tales of other countries. Also it is speculated here on possible origins of this legend. Along with other Keightley’s works, this is a must read for every one interested in structure of mythology and folklore, in way how myths and legends are formed and shifted throughout history and geography.
