In 1822...
A terrible storm blows the Spanish fishing vessel Ángel Caído (Fallen Angel) way off course and causes irreparable damage. Captain Eduardo Hernandez orders his loyal crew to "Abandon ship!" He is going down with the Angel and his last thoughts are not of fish...but of what's really in the cargo hold.
Two hundred years later...
Jim and Vikki Lansing spent hurricane season in Key West poring over manifests of sunken ships. Jim is obsessed with finding sunken treasure. When he was a boy, his father had stumbled across a shipwreck and become very wealthy, but spent every dime searching for more, ultimately dying a poor man. The picture in Jim's mind of the gold and jewels piled on the floor of his father's boat drives him relentlessly. But 29-year-old Vikki has other things on her mind. Although she loves her life on the sea and adores her handsome husband, she longs for a child and is very aware of her biological clock. Tick-tock...
A legacy in gold...?
They spot discrepancies in the Fallen Angel's records and Jim is convinced the vessel's crew was doing more than simply fishing. When storm season ends, the couple sets out on a quest to locate the downed ship and prove Jim's hunch correct. In the process, they risk their lives fighting modern-day pirates, hungry sharks, and their own "perfect storm," as well as an underwater eruption that could send them and the Zephyr to a watery grave. Jim and Vikki must use all their skill and inner strength to survive the perils at sea. Will they find the Fallen Angel? And will their efforts make them wealthier than they'd ever imagined or will the ship's legacy remain forever a mystery?
