Todd was just testing out his new time-travel device his friend pilfered from the CIA. Charlotte, the princess of a small town somewhere in England in the Middle Ages, was just trying to find a God to knock her up and give her an heir. Todd was no God, but as the old saying goes: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Charlotte begs and pleads with him to use his futuristic technology to convince the council that he is a God so that she can restore her lineage. He is so enamored with her that he goes along with it.

How will the council react when presented with technology beyond their wildest dreams? Will they call him a witch and burn him at the stake or call him a God and let him mate with their untouched princess?

Excerpt:

I closed my eyes as a blinding flash of light enveloped my body. Holy shit! I was actually doing it! I was time traveling.

Time stood still and my heart sunk as what I assumed would be an instant process, turned into something much longer than I expected.

Just how long it took, I couldn't say. It felt like minutes, but was probably only seconds. Had something gone wrong? Was this going to be some type of Star Trek-like mishap where the particles of my body would be scattered throughout space and time?

Would I just carry on thinking and wondering and praying? Or —

Just as I was working myself up into a good panic, the swirl of lights slowly faded. At first I couldn't see anything, but I could hear what sounded suspiciously like birds. The second the light faded and my body materialized, however, they became dead silent.

With both hope and trepidation, I opened my eyes. What would I see? If my calibrations were correct, I should be somewhere in the English forest in the Middle Ages.

My God, the breeze felt so real. Trees of various shapes and sizes surrounded me. The birds began cautiously singing again.

I pumped my fist in the air and shouted. I couldn't believe it! I had actually time-traveled back to another point in time. Time travel was real.

However, tears formed in my eyes as I remembered the reason I was even here. My best friend gave his life infiltrating the CIA's super-secret black ops program. They got him, but he was able to pass the device and instruction manual on to me.

He said he did it because he knew how fanatical I was about time-travel. When everyone else dismissed my - to them - incoherent ramblings, he listened. He knew.

And now I knew.

"I won't let your sacrifice be in vein, Tim," I whispered to the trees.

*****

Now that I was here, I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do. I mean, everyone's fantasized about time-traveling, but none of us really have any idea what we'd actually do if we were able to.

It was a good thing that I'd brought along a backpack full of goodies as after about an hour of walking I was starting to get the munchies.

I stopped in an open clearing where I could sun myself a bit on a rocky outcropping. I popped open my backpack, rummaged around until I found my trail mix and chased it down with some pop I brought along.

I contemplated my options. First of all, I didn't even know if I was in an inhabited area. For all I know animals were the only living things around. I didn't have much knowledge of forests or the Middle Ages, so I couldn't even begin to make an educated guess. Maybe I should’ve paid more attention in school.

The wind picked up and I had to stuff everything back in the pack or risk it getting blown away or rained on.

Crackling thunder suddenly boomed overhead and I knew that rain was imminent. How on earth did it go from sunny to raining in less than an hour? Well, that pretty much made up my mind for me. I was going to have to find some kind of shelter, and - by the looks of the blackened sky - soon.
