Khobargade affair has seriously hurt Indo-American Relations. Ms Khobargade is accused of lying on her visa application form for her nanny but she could not be prosecuted as she had diplomatic immunity. Based on evidence made public it is highly likely that Ms. Khobargade who considered herself champion for oppressed women was paying about $3.5 an hour to her maid but she has denied it through her attorney and we may never learn the truth.

Unfortunately the episode took a life of its own and now since the dust has settled we can look at what if anything should have been differently. So the bigger question is that even when we were right could we have been more right and not hurt our own interests in South East Asia.

This ebook tries to analyze just that.
